Personally, I think that attacking the issue from a cultural standpoint will be successful in the long run. In addition, you are actually knocking down an entire ecosystem of other beneficial insects that live in the lawn and surrounding areas. Sevin will diminish the numbers, but will not eliminate them. Applying the Sevin may have killed off a significant number of the offenders but they are likely to be found in neighbouring lawns as well, and as soon as the chemical dissipates they will be back.
